So plastic free July is here and I was feeling inspired!
A group of bloggers and makers got together and decided to make a difference by creating the raising them green campaign for plastic free July, and we were urged to each make a change to reduce our plastic usage. Before this I hadn’t really thought about how much single use plastic I use on a daily basis and when I thought through our usage I was shocked and a bit embarrassed by how much single use plastic we go through each month. Everything from soda to shampoo bottles and it was then that I decided to join this movement. I want to make this world a better place for my son and I want to stop contributing to the world’s waste.
I finally decided that I as going to tackle our bathroom and start with reducing single use plastic in there. Walking around our bathroom and making a list of all the plastic in there was actually quite shocking. I’m talking face wash, face masks, face rounds, face creams, shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, hair masks, razors, loofahs… and the list could probably go on but that might take up an entire post. I mean seriously it’s insane how much plastic we go through each month and that’s just in the bathroom.
We decided that we were going to start with replacing our shampoo, face wash, conditioner, face rounds and face scrubs which doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s a start and we are wanting to go further with this project and gradually create a plastic free home to raise our son in.
Doing my research and loving supporting South African brands I came across Shop Zero which is located in Cape Town but the have an online shop and do deliver. Plus there is the extra perk that any order over R350.00 gets free delivery! YAY!! Now I just want to put a disclaimer that we are not sponsored by them and this post is all me simply loving on a local brand that is doing amazing things for the environment.
So if you want to join me in making some changes in your bathroom then this is a great place to start, I will be listing some amazing products from Shop Zero with links to each product.
I hope this inspired you to start reducing your plastic usage. Remember that small changes can end up making a big difference and your changes do count!
Much Love xx
